I apologise. I didn't make a cake today.
Instead, I made 48 jars of jams and compotes to take to the Gerringong and Kiama Seaside markets this weekend. After all that jam I couldn't face cake baking.
But because I'm dead keen on a cake date, I thought I'd start us off with a few of my favourites.
If you click on the picture, you should link through to the recipe.
Sometimes I forget I've been keeping this blog for a little while now, until I go looking for old cake recipes and stumble over tiny baby Ivys and little toddler Tillys. Tiny tidbits of our days that I would have inevitably forgotten unless I wrote them down here.
So I'm very grateful that you are visiting, because if you didn't, I might not have kept on writing, and because I have I've got a written record of a whole lot of cake. Not to mention slices. And we haven't even started yet.
Hooray for cake!
I hope you enjoy it too.

Good grief! I loved your slices each week but I have a feeling (in my belly) that I will enjoy the cakes even more!

You know, I had totally forgotten that it was Monday, so hadn't missed the cake. But now I've seen the photos, I simply can't wait for more!!!
I've been thinking about how you said a few posts ago that this used to be a food blog. I haven't been with you since the beginning, so didn't realise that's what it was - I read your blog with pleasure, seeing it as a window into your life. It just happens that food plays a big part, but then so does family, and the farm (the good kind of "f" words!).
So, as you say, you can look back over your blog posts and see more than just food.

Peach vanilla, plum, and rhubarb compote. Also zucchini chilli pickles. And you are very welcome. I cannot eat all that custard myself. xxx

Oh, my ... these looked so good I went ahead and made the orange cake (but with Meyer lemons I happened to have; I am chronically unable to make a recipe the way it's written) for my two classes of college freshmen, just to make their lives better. Luckily, I made enough for one to leave home, too, because it was ridiculously delicious. The students ate them up like locusts, to the point that a couple of my guys were scraping the crumbs out of the bottom of the carrier box. Thanks for these recipes; I'm working my way through them as a service to humanity ...

Ooh...just stumbled upon your lovely blog and have decided I am going to work my way through those delicious looking cake recipes. But I'm going to start with your apple slice recipe first. I truly cannot resist an apple slice.
